Incoming 7th Grade Music Ensemble Sign Ups
Hello Parents of 6th grade musicians!
Pentucket boasts a thriving 4-12 music program with several ensembles and a long list of awards and accolades, including national recognition as a NAMM Best Communities for Music Education 4 years in a row! Course registration for incoming 7th graders is happening soon and we just wanted to give you a brief overview of the middle school instrumental program and all the exciting adventures that await!
Band, Orchestra, Choir, and Percussion ensembles meet daily. We have fantastic dedicated rehearsal spaces in the new building, and each student will be assigned a locker to keep their instrument and music in. We also have soundproof practice rooms and state of the art technology to support student growth and exploration. Each ensemble has two concerts a year, plus students have the opportunity to participate in our annual Virtual Recital premiered on our Pentucket Music YouTube channel!
All percussion students should sign up for “percussion ensemble.” This is a separate class from “band” where they will work on percussion ensemble music in addition to the band music for our concerts. Percussion students are still full members of the band and participate in all the same events.
The hard work of our performing ensembles is celebrated at the end of the year by participating in the Great East Festival, which gives us a chance to perform for adjudicators and receive valuable feedback on our playing, followed by a day of great fun at Six Flags!
In middle school, the long-term investment you have made together in our program will pay dividends not only musically, but across the academic spectrum. The skills we teach are lifelong and transferable to any future field of work and study. Long after the lifespans of other activities have come to an end, music will persevere. HERE is some research that looks at the impact of studying music on academic performance.
We look forward to having everyone join us at the middle school next year! Please submit this Google Form indicating your child’s desire to participate in our middle school ensemble program, and reach out if you have any questions. The Pentucket Music Program is a GREAT place to be!

Please log all reading minutes by 11 pm on March 10 (all minutes read on the 10th count)! Fundraising is open until March 20. Any students who wish to shop from the prize store should do so by March 20 as well.
All winners will be announced next week.
