October News
A.W. Becker Community,
I hope you all have settled in to the first month of school, that went very quickly. I just want you all to know that we appreciate the community support that we've gotten. From Open House, the Ice Cream Social, and the Apple Run, the involvement and support has been outstanding. We have a few things going on around school that I wanted to share with you.
- Fire Prevention Week is October 7th - 11th. I have been in contact with Selkirk FD about coming in and talking to the students. We've arranged for them to come in the morning of Friday, October 11th.
- Family PE Week is also October 7th - 11th. Information and signups have gone out by Mr. Herwick and Ms. McClave. Just one important note, we cannot have siblings be part of the event for safety and space purposes, thank you in advance for your understanding.
- Clubs and Activities will be starting soon. All advisors have been approved and will sending out their own communication to families.
- Student / Family Contact Forms went home on Monday. Please make sure you send those back to school so we have the most updated information in SchoolTool.
- For those of you who haven't seen or heard, RCS made the list for best school districts in the Capital Region. Here is the link from News Channel 10
A.W. Becker Targets and Action Plan (TAPs)
Each school year, we develop district and building goals that we strive to meet. This school year we are starting work on four long term goals that align with our district and BOE initiatives. These goals run through the 2029 school year. These goals serve as our compass, guiding us towards providing the best possible education and support for your children. Together, as a united school community, we are committed to ensuring the academic and social-emotional success of each student within our walls.
1.) 100% of students will meet end-of-year grade level reading benchmark by June 2029
2.) 100% of students will meet end-of-year grade level math benchmark by June 2029
