Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
It was nice to be back for a full school week in hopes of helping our BHS students get back into their routines! The cold weather can sometimes be a challenge, so thank you for encouraging your high school student to get out of bed and to school on time.
Attendance and simply showing up is the single, most important step a student can take to be successful in school and quite honestly, in life. Please reference the graphic below that highlights how much school a student misses if they only miss two days a month! It adds up! If kids aren’t here, they become overwhelmed and start to feel like they can’t catch up.
Remember that we will not be in school on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This federal holiday honors the total legacy of Dr. King, highlights the use of nonviolence to promote change, and calls people into public service.
We will see all of our awesome students back on Tuesday, January 21st.
Have a safe weekend.
In service to our Bulldogs.

#EveryBulldogEveryDay
Hi, Bulldog Families.
This week, we held second semester class meetings to review expectations and discuss academics along with the opportunities students will have this semester. We emphasized the importance of being on time to school and to class. We discussed multiple topics regarding safe behaviors on the bus and when driving on campus. The biggest message we shared was to continue to respect your peers, respect the staff, and most importantly: respect yourself! Doing this will continue to create a positive culture for students to be successful!

The FAFSA is available now!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2025-26 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the U.S. Department of Education has announced that the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
