The SAT and ACT are both college entrance exams. More students (1.9 million in the class of 2023) take the SAT than any other admissions exam. You may think the SAT and ACT are basically the same, and that colleges in some states prefer the ACT while others favor the SAT. This is a common misconception. Most colleges in the U.S.—even if they’re test optional—accept scores from either exam for admissions decisions, course placement, financial aid, and other purposes. • Required by many colleges: A majority of colleges still require or recommend standardized test scores for admission.
• Scholarships and Financial Aid: Some scholarships and financial aid opportunities are tied to SAT or ACT scores.
• Course Placement: Some colleges use test scores to determine appropriate course placement, potentially allowing you to skip introductory courses.

Xello: A Comprehensive College and Career Readiness Platform

Overview
Xello is an online college and career readiness platform designed to help K–12 students prepare for future academic and professional success. It offers a personalized, student-centered experience that encourages self-discovery, goal-setting, and informed decision-making about post-secondary plans.

Purpose and Goals
The main goal of Xello is to engage students in exploring their interests, skills, and values to make well-informed choices about their educational and career paths. The platform supports school districts in meeting various college and career readiness standards, such as those mandated by state and federal programs like the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards.

Features

• Career Exploration: Students explore a wide range of career profiles with real-world data on salaries, education requirements, job outlooks, and daily responsibilities.

• College Planning: Offers tools to research colleges, build application plans, and track progress. Students can compare institutions based on tuition, admission criteria, and campus life.

• Academic Planning: Aligns course selections with career goals and graduation requirements.

• Skill Development: Activities focus on developing critical thinking, decision-making, and goal-setting skills.

• Portfolios: Students create online portfolios that showcase their achievements, plans, and reflections over time.
